NC'S LARGEST AIR SHOW TAKES OFF JUNE 6-7-8!



















SECURITY

Due to current real world conditions, MCAS Cherry Point will implement tighter security and parking for the 2008 Open House and Air Show.  These procedures are designed to protect you and to ensure that you have an enjoyable experience aboard MCAS Cherry Point.

When arriving aboard the Air Station, we ask that you pay strict attention to road signs and directions by Military and Civilian law enforcement personnel.

There will be designated entry points to enter the flightline.  These will be the only points that spectators will be allowed to enter.  Please for your safety and ours do not try and enter from any other point.

All spectators, civilian and military will be required to go through security screening.  This screening will include passing through metal detectors, security wands and random searches.  Please be patient and cooperative with security personnel, they will attempt to make the process as quick as possible.  Again this is for your safety and ours.

Approved items that will be allowed at the Air Show:

Scanners: will be allowed but only if they are not capable of transmitting.

Pagers/Cell Phones:
You will be asked to turn them on and off to validate their authenticity.

Cameras: Please do not load them with film.  Security personnel will ask you to open them.  Digital cameras will have to be turned off and on to validate their authenticity. Film can be loaded after clearing security.

Video Cameras: Security personnel will ask you to open them to validate their authenticity.

Camera Bags: Small camera bags will be allowed, but will be searched. 

Diaper Bags, Baby Strollers, Wheel Chairs and Lawn Chairs: All items will be searched.

Medications: Should you be a diabetic, have an allergic reaction to bee stings or have a medical condition that requires you to carry a needle to administer medication, you will be allowed to enter the grounds to the air show, however we ask that you disclose this information upon your arrival and have proper equipment for disposal of used needles. In addition, all roving Emergency Medical Specialist and First Aid Stations will have Sharps containers for disposal of any needles or medical waste.

Prohibited items not allowed at the Air Show:

Knives: No matter the size of the knife, you will be asked to return it to your vehicle prior to being allowed entry.

Firearms: Anyone found with a firearm will be immediately apprehended and turned over to local authorities.

Walking Sticks: Only exception is handicap use.

Transmitters or walkie-talkies of any kind. For security and safety reasons you will be asked to return these items to your vehicle prior to entry.

Pets: Only guide dogs are allowed.

Other items not allowed: Pepper spray/mace. Stun guns, scissors, box cutters, throwing stars, nun-chucks, coolers, picnic bags/baskets, backpacks, duffle bags, umbrellas, briefcases, and large camera bags. You will be asked to return any of these items to your vehicle prior to entry. 

IF YOU ELECT NOT TO RETURN THESE ITEMS TO YOUR VEHICLE AND LEAVE THEM AT THE SECURITY CHECK POINT WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RETURN OF THE ITEM.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THESE MEASURES ARE BEING TAKEN TO ENSURE EVERYONE'S SAFETY. COME EARLY, OBEY ALL MILITARY AND CIVILIAN LAW ENFORCEMENT, BE PATIENT AND ENJOY THE SHOW.
